Plunder of the Sun

Let this little thriller be a lesson: Never agree to smuggle a package from one South American country to another… because that’s exactly what Al Colby does in Hard Case Crime’s Plunder of the Sun before getting himself into a world of hurt, intrigue and culture shock.
Colby, an American with an apparently shady but undefined past, is hired by a seemingly kindly old man to carry an unidentified artifact from Chile to Peru. Colby quickly finds himself in the middle of a tug-of-war between many people, none of whom he can trust.
The journey in Peru eventually leads to buried ancient treasure, gold as beautiful as the sun itself. Will Colby make it out alive?
I enjoyed this read but there was something about it that didn’t pull me in the way I’d hoped.
